Fortunately, most of the animals are now recovering.
Police arrested the zoo's former owner, David Hunter, yesterday.
According to his statement, he occasionally came to feed the animals after closing.
However, he completely stopped coming about three weeks ago.
He will be charged with animal abuse and abandonment.
If found guilty, he could face up to five years in prison.
This case has once again highlighted the lack of oversight for private zoos.
Currently, there is no system to regularly inspect private zoos in this area.
